Customer Advisory: Update 2 – ILA Prepares for Strike at East & Gulf Coast Ports

Carriers and port operators are preparing for a potential and likely strike by the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) beginning October 1. A strike will cause delays across the entire network, even though it will occur on the East Coast and Gulf ports.
Please note:
- Ports are urging shippers to clear out their cargo before September 30, offering extended gate hours and setting deadlines for operations.
- Carriers have begun announcing multiple surcharges in the event of a strike action. The purpose of the surcharges is to cover operational disruptions caused by labor actions and work stoppages.
- We urge customers to return or pick up containers prior to Monday, September 30.
