Customer Advisory: Update 2 – Canadian Railways Resume Operations

Late Thursday, Canada’s Labor Minister, Steven MacKinnon, ordered the Canadian National Railway (CN), Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) to resume operations. The Labor Minister also announced that the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) is directed to impose binding arbitration between the tier-one railways and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC). The CIRB will also extend the terms of all parties’ current collective agreements until new deals have been signed. All parties are working to resume all network operations progressively and efficiently.
Early today, Friday, August 23, the TCRC served CN with a strike notice starting Monday, August 26, at 10:00 AM EDT.
